This IP link is provided to help protect you against fraudulent sellers by allowing you several options to trace back to the seller's Internet Service Provider (ISP). One specific type of advertiser fraud occurs when a proposed seller fakes the ownership of a pet, and attempts to extract money from unsuspecting buyers in the form of advance shipping fees, etc. Typically these fraudulent sellers have an IP location source that does not match where they say they are actually from. Most of the these types of scams generally originate from overseas sellers who claim to in North America, although their IP shows they are from a far away place such as Africa, Italy, Eastern Europe or elsewhere.

An IP address will generally disclose the location of the seller's internet service provider (ISP), not the sellers home or business address. It's not always perfect, and also sometimes scammers can circumvent the system and still show a local internet provider, but in general, if the seller's IP shows an overseas location while they claim to be elsewhere, you should consider this very suspicious activity, and we do not recommend transacting with this party.
